Growing up on the small soulful islands of Trinidad and Tobago, surrounded by farms, I was introduced to the importance of clean, healthy eating. I cherish the memories of picking fresh, organic tropical fruits, vegetables, and herbs from our garden to prepare healthy meals shared with family and friends. I can still remember the scent of the burning sugar cane being transformed into raw sugar, a constant in our everyday life.
While working with a family that became a very special part of my life, I met the patriarch, "Grandpa," an endearing and wonderful man who means the world to me. Just as it was in Trinidad, Grandpa stressed the importance of the dinner table: A time to unwind, discuss the day and nourish the soul, especially during difficult times.
In the summer of 2012 I decided to take a leap of faith to pursue my passion of food. I enrolled in culinary school to gain the culinary skills and knowledge to succeed professionally in this industry. I was eager to learn the different cuisines and dishes to influence and fuse my already flavorful Trinidadian background.
I have worked in restaurants, but my true joy comes in creating a customized one of a kind experience. After all, the magic occurs around the dinner table at home, with the people you love most!
